ELMORE COUNTY, AL (WSFA) -

A 40-year-old man is dead after a shooting in Elmore County Saturday.

According to Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin, the shooting happened during a street party in the Luckytown Community. The victim, Dallas Ferrell, died from gunshot wounds to his upper torso. He was found lying in the middle of the street, and a weapon was found near him.

“We had ten to eleven 911 calls that came in at about the same time. They all seemed to talk about a gentleman who had been shot, possibly killed down in the community of Luckytown, one of the backstreets in the town of Elmore,” Franklin said.

Ferrell was pronounced dead at the scene. Franklin said he and the suspect had gotten into an argument about a prior criminal case.

Franklin said a suspect, who multiple witnesses identified as the shooter, has been arrested and is at the Elmore County Jail. Franklin identified him as 26-year-old Larry Turner and said he is familiar to the sheriff's office.

“Larry turner is someone that we are familiar with," Franklin said. "He’s probably been booked in our jail a number of times probably about a dozen times in the last seven years."

Turner is charged with murder. His bond is set at $75,000. Turner also sustained one gunshot wound in his buttocks during the shooting, but the injury is non-life threatening.
