ELMORE CO., AL (WSFA) -

An inmate is dead, and another is being charged with his murder after an incident at an Alabama Correctional Facility Saturday.

According to ALDOC officials, Michael Williams, 18, is being charged for the stabbing death of Barry Tyrone Reynolds, 60.

Reynolds was found suffering from a stab wound around 2:30 a.m. inside the Stanton Correctional Facility prison dorms. Reynolds was taken to the prison infirmary where life-saving measures were taken. Reynolds succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by a physician around 2:55 a.m., prison officials say.

Authorities recovered a makeshift weapon used in the stabbing. The circumstances surrounding the stabbing remain under investigation.

Reynolds was serving a 5-year sentence for a 2014 conviction for distributing a controlled substance in Mobile County. Williams was sentenced to 25 years in 2017 for attempted murder in Mobile County.
