MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - To say the Biscuits are streaking would be an understatement. They're red hot. They've won 11 of their last 12 games and moved from the bottom cellar of the Southern League North Division into a half game back of the first place Jackson Generals.

The only loss Montgomery (35-30) has suffered this month came Saturday against Chattanooga, the team the Biscuits took 4 of 5 from and pushed down into third place.

This run is even more impressive when you highlight that the butter and blue closed 10.5 games between May 17 and Wednesday. Over a 25-game stretch the Biscuits turned a 16-25 record into a 35-30 record, averaging more than 6 runs per game.

Michael Russell leads the team in batting average at .343 and are powered by infielder Nick Solak's 10 home runs. The Biscuits are led on the bump by Zach Lee, who has a 7-1 record, and Southern League All-Star Genesis Cabrera, who is tied for the league lead in strikeouts with 77.

Speaking of All-Stars, Montgomery will be represented by 5 All-Stars in Nick Solak, Ryan Boldt, Nathan Lukes, Brett Sullivan and Genesis Cabrera in next Tuesday's Southern League All-Star Game. Zach Lee and Brandon Lowe were also named as Southern League All-Stars, but Lowe was recently promoted to Triple-A and Lee will not be participating.

But before then, the 'Skits have five games remaining in the first half of the season, all against the Tennessee Smokies (33-32). J.D. Martin (4-7) will get the ball for the Biscuits against Tennessee's Oscar De La Cruz in Wednesday night's series opener.
