MARENGO CO., AL (WSFA) - We have an update on a story we first brought you from Faunsdale.
ALDOT has installed a temporary camera at the intersection of Highways 25 and 80 to monitor traffic and driver behavior. The locals in that Marengo County town applaud the move, hoping it is the first step in either building an overpass over Highway 80 or putting up traffic signals.
Faunsdale residents say too many people have either gotten hurt or killed. We're told the camera is in place to see whether drivers are obeying the stop signs on 25 leading to Highway 80.
Residents met with ALDOT leaders two weeks ago to express their concerns. ALDOT says the camera will remain in place at least through the July 4 holiday.
