MACON COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - Drivers on I-85 can expect delays at night as the Alabama Department of Transportation works on a project from the Montgomery County line to the Lee County line.
Beginning Monday, June 18, crews will be working to widen two northbound bridges and one southbound bridge to accommodate future acceleration lane extensions at exits 26, 38 and 42 in Macon County. Cable guide rails will be installed in the median as well.
Lane closures will take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday night through Thursday night. Road crews will have all lanes open by 6 a.m. Friday morning.
According to the Alabama Department of Transportation, the project should be complete by the fall of 2019 and is expected to cost around $8.4 million.
