2 Auburn men charged with rape in connection to ongoing human trafficking case

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) – Auburn police arrested two men on rape charges.

Rodney McCurdy, 42, and Courtney Thomas, 38, both from Auburn were arrested on felony warrants.

The arrests are the result of an ongoing human trafficking investigation of a 13-year-old female that was reported to police in October 2017.

The victim was picked up in a vehicle with several unknown males shortly after leaving from the Lee County Youth Development Center. She was taken to a residence and her against her will and sexually assaulted.

As part of the continuing investigation into the incident, McCurdy and Thomas were developed as suspects.

They were both charged with rape in the first-degree. They were located, taken into custody and are being held in the Lee County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
