TROY, AL (WSFA) -

The Troy Athletic Department has come up with a new, creative way to give back to those who dedicate their time giving back within the community.

The Community Hero Ticket Program will be implemented this season as a way to say "thank you" to all the local heroes.

For just $48, fans can purchase season tickets which will then be donated to military, first responders, teachers, special needs organizations, and charity programs for children.

The Trojans did this same program last year for the New Orleans Bowl in which 2,000 tickets were sold and it was that success which put this new program into play.

“We made a huge difference in the New Orleans area,” said deputy director of Athletics Brent Jones. “We went to the Boys and Girls Club, to the veterans hospital, we went to battered and abused shelters, and then we also went to local elementary schools. This really spurred our thoughts because our fans were so great in donating these tickets and made a huge impact in the New Orleans area. So, why not let’s do it in the Wiregrass, why not let’s do it in Troy, do it in Montgomery, do it in Dothan, and all the way around.”

You can purchase the Community Hero tickets by calling the Troy ticket office, visiting the ticket website, or in person at the ticket office located at Trojan Arena. They are hoping to sell 2,500 tickets this year.
