LEE CO., AL (WSFA) - Popular food delivery service app Waitr has announced it will expand into Opelika and Auburn. The delivery service is expected to officially expand into these two areas on Thursday.
Waitr's widespread appeal in Alabama promoted the platform to expand their services, according to company officials.
Since its launch in 2015, Waitr has quickly grown to serve more than 200 cities across the south including Montgomery, Prattville, Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Mobile, and Huntsville. Additionally, officials with Waitr say partnering restaurants have seen an average increase in overall business by 18 percent.
"The Auburn and Opelika communities and restaurant owners saw the excitement and success of our food delivery in its nearby cities and wanted to be part of it," said Whitney Savoie, Market Development Director for Waitr. "We're thrilled we can now meet that demand here."
Waitr will be hosting an Auburn/Opelika launch party at Wild Wing Café around 5 p.m. Thursday. Waitr is encouraging residents to come out and be part of the launch and meet the local team. There will be appetizers, cold drinks, and swag items available.
