MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Downpours are moving through south Alabama, but they're starting to lighten up and dissipate. A few showers will last through late evening. Overnight will be muggy in the mid 70s.
Good news-- sunshine returns in time for the weekend! Coverage of rain will fall to the 20-30% range. There will still be a few weekend storms around, but it won't be like yesterday or today. Most of you will stay dry and hot, with temperatures in the low 90s and heat index values near 100°.
Rain chances stay on the lower end through next week.
PERSEID METEOR SHOWER: The annual Perseids peak this weekend, and the show should be decent this year without a bright moon to wash things out. Up to 50 meteors an hour will be possible, primarily between 12am-5am. But...you'll still be able to see a few at any time as long as it's dark. Look toward the northeast and good luck!
