AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - A new food delivery service is expanding to the Plains.
After hearing about a high demand in the area, Waitr, a food delivery service, is now serving Auburn and Opelika.
"You just go to your App Store or your Google Play Store, you download the app on your phone. You open it up and it has beautiful full-color images from all of our restaurants," said Waitr Mobile Restaurant Success Manager Chris Moore. "You select the restaurant you would like to peruse the menu, you look at the menu and select the items you want. You complete the transaction, all transactions are completed electronically, there's no cash passed between you and our drivers or the partner restaurants, and our drivers come to pick up the food and bring it to you."
Officials say that, right now, they have about 20 partnered restaurants in the area. They're also looking to employ drivers to meet the upcoming high demand.
"We are looking for 50 to 100 drivers in the area. They have to be 18 years of age, have good insurance, a dependable vehicle, and the smart phone, and be able to pass a pretty strict background check." said Moore.
Waitr is offering a special through Aug. 19 to celebrate their debut in Auburn and Opelika. Enter the promo code 'THEPLAINS' at checkout to wave the $5 delivery fee.
