COPY-Miss. quarterback relishes second chance against No. 6 Alabama

OXFORD, Miss. Micheal Spurlock lost everything last year at Alabama -- the ball, the game and his job as Mississippi's starting quarterback.

A season after being benched during a lopsided loss in Tuscaloosa, the fifth-year senior has reclaimed his position and is seeking redemption against the sixth-ranked Crimson Tide.

Spurlock says last year serves as motivation. His career bottomed out when he was replaced in the third quarter of last year's 28-to-7 loss to Alabama.

Now, he and the Rebels (2-3, 0-2 SEC) get another chance against the Tide.

Alabama (5-0, 3-0) has the best total defense in the league, and nine starters are back from a unit which tormented Spurlock last year.

Spurlock completed just 5-of-15 passes for 54 yards in last year's game. He also lost a fumble that led to an Alabama touchdown.

Kickoff is 11 a-m. CBS has the telecast.
