WASHINGTON (AP) _ Rosa Parks may be honored by having a Detroit federal building renamed after her.
Proposals in the House and Senate would name the building that houses the local Homeland Security Office the "Rosa Parks Federal Building."
Michigan's entire congressional delegation supports the proposals, which are pending in separate committees.
Parks' refusal to give up her bus seat to a white man in Montgomery in 1955 is credited with sparking the modern civil rights movement. She moved to Detroit two years later and died Monday night at age 92.
