More Local Sources for Help on New Prescription Drug Plan

Volunteer Information Center 

Montgomery's Volunteer Information Center has operators available to help persons trying to navigate the Medicare Prescription Drug Program.  Simply call 211 if you are in Montgomery, Autauga, Elmore, Dallas, Lee, Lowndes, Macon or Perry counties.  If they cannot answer your question or connect you with the proper resource, they will take your name and number and get back to you with the information.

The Social Security Administration may be able to help those interested in applying for extra assistance with the new Medicare Prescription Drug benefit.

Central Alabama Aging Consortium 

The Central Alabama Aging Consortium will have help for seniors available at the following location:

The Alabama Health Insurance Counseling Program gives free information and assistance on Medicare, Medicaid, Medigap, long term care, supplemental insurance, and other health insurance benefits.

Thirteen Area Agencies on Aging provide health insurance assistance to beneficiaries throughout Alabama.  You can reach the Insurance Counselor for your county by calling the number above.
