Lawmaker wants monument to M.L. King Jr. in Alabama Supreme Court building

State Representative Alvin Holmes wants to add another monument to the Ten Commandments display erected Wednesday by Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore.

The Montgomery Democrat said he will place the "I have a dream" speech by Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. next to Moore's monument.  Holmes said he supports and praises Moore for the Ten Commandments display, but also noted that Chief Justice Moore did not receive authorization from the Alabama Legislature.

Holmes says he's hired an artist to design the monument and he will not seek permission to place his display in the state Supreme Court Building. The lawmaker said he expects it to be finished in about ten days and plans to hold a public ceremony to unveil it.
