The Montgomery Police Department has made an arrest in the case of a recent robbery at Mosley's Grocery on W. Jeff Davis Avenue.
The robbery occured on Sunday, January 15, 2006 , at 7:35 a.m.
The manager along with two other employees, were inside the business when an unknown male entered and walked to the rear of the store. Once all customers departed, the suspect approached the cashier and demanded all currency from the register. The suspect then approached the office area where the manager was located. The suspect entered the office and demanded the money. The manager surrendered an undisclosed amount of assorted U.S. currency. The suspect exited the business with the money in a brown plastic bag and fled in an unknown direction.
According to police spokesman, Lt. Huey Thornton, the investigation of the robbery led to a possible suspect, Adrian D. Purnell. Mr. Purnell was placed into a photographic line-up and displayed to three witnesses separately. All three witnesses positively identified him as the offender.
Mr. Purnell was located on January 25, 2006, interviewed, and subsequently placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility for three counts of Robbery 1st Degree (robbery of the business and two employees). Mr. Purnell’s bond is $90,000.00.
