Budget Proposes New and Expanded User Fees for Some Veterans

The FY 2007 Budget Proposal for the Department of Veterans Affairs, President Bush is "reproposing two user-fee proposals for lower-priority veterans in the system (Priority 7/8 veterans) who do not have service disabilities or lower incomes."

"The proposals include a $250 annual enrollment fee and an increase in the drug copay from $8 to $15 for a 30-day supply of prescription drugs."

"Similar proposals are included in the DOD budget for career military retirees under the age of 65."
