Grief Service Held at School of Arson Suspects

At Birmingham Southern, where two of the suspects were students at the time of their arrest, a grief service was held on Thursday afternoon.

Many gathered inside of Munger Hall's auditorium to acknowledge grief and express hope in the aftermath of the church burnings.

Last week authorities arrested two Birmingham Southern students on the campus in connection with the burnings of nine churches.

19 year-olds Ben Moseley and Russell DeBusk were expelled and are currently being held in the Shelby County jail.

Since then Birmingham Southern has stepped forward to rebuild the churches that were damaged or destroyed.

The service is a way for people to come to terms with what happened.

Campus ministers from several different denominations along with Reverand Jim Parker of Ashby Baptist Church, one of the nine churches that burned, are scheduled to participate.
