Spotlight Ministry of the Week - Care and Counseling

Stephen Ministry: Stephen Ministry is an ongoing ministry in which one Christian reaches out to another in time of need. The volunteer Stephen Minister helps to bring healing to the lonely, the depressed, the bereaved, those hospitalized, and others in crisis situations. Caring Casseroles: Frozen casseroles are delivered to church members who have been discharged from the hospital to a home in the Montgomery area. This ministry of care and concern is a cooperative effort using volunteers for the preparation of the casseroles in the church kitchen every other month and volunteers to deliver the casseroles on Tuesday afternoon. Hands of the Spirit: Hands of the Spirit is a care ministry for members of First United Methodist Church who are not part of a Sunday School class or other small support group. Volunteers provide transportation, meals, visits, cards and other types of care as needed. For more information, contact Elizabeth Cheshire. 834-8990

Nursing Home/Homebound Visitation: On the second Monday of each month, volunteers go to a local nursing home for fun and games. The Card Ministry touches members who are in facilities or homebound. Cards are sent for holidays and birthdays to remind the members their church has not forgotten them. For more information, contact Elizabeth Cheshire. 834-8990

Samaritan Counseling Center: The Samaritan Counseling Center provides counseling services from skilled persons who are sensitive not only to psychological issues but also spiritual, ethical and social concerns. The Center provides a wide range of counseling and educational services. For more information regarding our counseling services and seminars or to schedule an appointment please call 262-7787.
