Parents Allege Alabama Teacher Showed Students anti-Bush Video

ATHENS, Ala. -- A Democratic legislative candidate who also teaches high school allegedly showed his students an Internet video that refers to President Bush in vulgar terms, sparking complaints from parents.

The Athens News-Courier reports today that school officials are reviewing those claims about teacher Steve White and trying to determine whether students may have been shown other offensive material.

Reached at home during school hours today, White declined comment. He would not say whether he had been suspended from work.

Christy Jackson, whose son is in White's eighth-grade science class, said White showed students an Internet video clip in which Bush, administration officials and conservative commentators repeatedly are referred to using an obscenity.

Jackson said White also made her 13-year-old son say, "John Kerry rocks" before leaving class one day.

White is seeking the Democratic nomination for an Alabama House seat in north Alabama.
