Former Governor Don Siegelman is not only asking jurors to find him innocent of federal government corruption charges, he's also asking voters to return him to office
Monday night, as soon as the trial recessed, Siegelman boarded his campaign bus and made the short trip to Prattville. He greeted prospective voters, asking for their support in the upcoming democratic primary.
"We've done a good job of getting out our message about more and better jobs, better schools, and the lottery," Siegelman said. "What we've got to do now is get up early, go to shift-changes, stay out late. You know, this is a good diversion from the trial anyway."
Siegelman squares off against fellow democrat Lieutenant Governor Lucy Baxley in the June 6th primary.
