COPY-Auburn's "Tiger" recovering from skin cancer

AUBURN, Ala. "Tiger," the beloved Auburn University mascot is ill. Officials at the Southeastern Raptor Center say the 26-year-old golden eagle has skin cancer.

Doctor Jamie Bellah, a professor of small animal surgery, tells the Opelika-Auburn News that Tiger is responding to treatments and is otherwise healthy. The cancer was found above the eagle's foot.

Tiger is best known for gameday flyovers over Jordan-Hare Stadium. Bellah said the school's two other eagles -- Spirit and Nova -- are healthy and will fly during pregame activities in the fall.
