BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Birmingham firefighters battled a massive warehouse blaze Thursday.
Flames shot through a downtown warehouse that contained more than 1 million pairs of shoes late Thursday morning.
About 90 firefighters and medics responded to the four-alarm blaze.
The building stored footwear destined for prisons around the United States.
No injuries were reported Thursday afternoon, but officials say the blaze is the biggest firefighting effort in Birmingham in a decade.
Authorities said firefighters were still dousing hot spots in the gutted shell Thursday evening.
