COPY-Navarre Beach restoration project on hold after turtle's death

NAVARRE BEACH, Fla. A dune restoration project on Navarre Beach in the Florida Panhandle is shut down until at least October first after the death of a loggerhead turtle.

The U-S Army Corps of Engineers made the decision yesterday.

Officials say the juvenile turtle, a protected species, died Saturday.

This is the third time a turtle has interrupted the project.

The work started in late March and is about 72 percent complete.
