Spotlight Ministry of the Week - Children's Ministries

The Children's Division consists of all children from birth through sixth grade. Within the life of our church, the following opportunities and ministries are offered for our children.

Sunday School: Sunday School classes are provided on Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:45 for children age two through sixth grade. Children who turn two before September 1 of the current school year make up the youngest class. Our goal through Sunday School is to nurture children in a loving environment so that as they hear the stories of the Bible they will develop a true love for God and His Word.

Children's Church: Children's Church is a ministry for children age three through first grade. Following the "Children's Minute" during Sunday morning worship services, children are invited to attend Children's Church. This special time gives children an opportunity to pray together, sing, listen to Bible stories and participate in other activities designed to enhance Bible lessons. Children's church is optional and families are welcome to encourage their preschoolers to remain in the worship service if desired.

ELMO (Elementary Methodist Organization: ELMO is an exciting program for fourth through sixth grade children. The program is designed to nurture developing interest in Christianity as well as encourage fun and fellowship among the children. ELMO meets one Sunday evening each month from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Special Activities: Special programs, Bible studies and activities are planned throughout the year. Summer months are filled with a variety of activities in which the children may participate. These activities are designed to encourage a loving fellowship among the children.

Mission Opportunities: Children are invited and encouraged to participate in numerous opportunities to serve others. It is our hope that children will learn to be more like Jesus through "hands on" mission activities.

Vacation Bible School: Vacation Bible School is held for a week every year in June and is the highlight of the year for many children. Bible stories, crafts, music, snacks, recreation, mission projects and fellowship are all centered around a fun and exciting theme.

Children's Library: The Children's Library is located on the second floor of the education Building. This library is designed especially for children, as a place where they may sit and read or check out books of interest. It is our hope that the Children's Library will further encourage the children to seek God's Word and truths.
