They call themselves "Pike County's Voice, Pike County's Choice!" WTBF radio AM and FM originates from downtown Troy. It covers much of south Alabama from Greenville to Dothan.
WTBF started out near the campus of Troy State College in 1947. A 250 foot tower behind the small studio beamed the signal to the community. Almost 60 years later, things have not changed much at all.
Jim Rolling and the morning show crew welcome anyone who needs help promoting a community event. All they have to do is walk in the door. The walls of the station are covered with the faces of the voices of WTBF.
In keeping with its old fashioned theme, the station still has a turntable to play an occasional record, otherwise all the music and commercials are on computer, but not everything's hi tech.
