Debate Continues on Possible Vicious Animal Ordinance

A Montgomery city public safety committee is trying to come up with a new law related to the control of so-called vicious animals within the city.  At a public hearing Monday morning some people said they would like to see strict rules in place, while others said they felt an ordinance would essentially take away their guard dogs.

Alyssa Knowles, who owns a pit bull days," I fear more for my safety from other people because the crime rate is so high than I do a dog.  So I feel like that should be an issue that should be addressed more so than a pit bull ban."

The committee plans to meet again for a work session on the issue on August 21st.  The public is invited to attend but will not be allowed to make comment.
