WSFA 12 News has learned new information in the case of a Montgomery businessman convicted of dealing drugs. Leon Carmichael voluntarily waived any potential conflict arising from alleged threats against one of his lawyers, Susan James.
Two former cell mates of Leon Carmichael's said he plotted to have James and another of his attorneys murdered. After the waiver, Judge Myron Thompson ruled that Mrs. James can continue to represent Carmichael. Carmichael will be sentenced August 14th.
