Covering East Alabama: New Interstate Bridge Opened In Valley

Governor Bob Riley helped deliver some good news for travelers in east Alabama Tuesday.

The Governor dedicated a new interstate bridge in Valley. The exit 77 interchange off I-85 is now five lanes instead of two.

The $7.2 million project began two years ago. City leaders hope the expansion will bring more commerce and consumers to the area.

The new interchange is one of several factors that could attract more industry to the area, especially when KIA Motors starts construction of its new factory in nearby West Point, Georgia.
