For Christians, the Epiphany, which falls on Jan. 6, celebrates the day the Magi presented their gifts to the infant Jesus. It marks the end of the 12 days of Christmas.
The day also is known as Three Kings Day. In Mexico and many other Spanish-speaking countries, "El Dia del los Reyes" is the day when children receive holiday gifts. Many Hispanic-Americans also celebrate Three Kings Day.
In Mexico, children traditionally leave out their shoes for the Three Kings on the night of Jan. 5. Sometimes, the shoes are filled with hay for the Kings' camels. When the children wake up on Jan. 6, the hay is gone, and the shoes are filled with candy and toys.
