Judge Cobb complains chief justice race disgusting

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Democratic Judge Sue Bell Cobb says the race for chief justice has sunk to a "disgusting" level.

Cobb complained about the race Tuesday during an appearance at the state judicial building.

Her complaint came after Republican incumbent Drayton Nabers began running an ad linking her to gambling contributions.

His campaign also distributed copies of an invitation to a fund-raising reception for Cobb that showed dog track operator Milton McGregor was one of the hosts.

Cobb said she never wanted the campaign for chief justice to focus on negative attacks, and she will not use negative advertising if Nabers will agree to the same thing.
