Judge's campaign brochure lists position she no longer holds

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A GOP candidate for the state Court of Civil Appeals has distributed a campaign brochure listing her as a member of a children's advocacy board that she resigned from a year ago.

Cullman County District Judge Terri Willingham Thomas said she had been unaware that her campaign brochure and Web site had listed her as serving on the Children's First Board.

Thomas faces Birmingham attorney Jim McFerrin, a Democrat, in the general election on November seventh.

McFerrin said today that Thomas ought to send a letter correcting the information to every voter who received the brochure.

He said judges should be people of integrity who are above reproach.

Thomas' campaign consultant, Bill Goolsby, said he's responsible for the mistake on the brochure.

He said he prepared the brochure using old campaign material that Thomas created last year.

Thomas served on the Children's First Board from 2004 to 2005, when she was president of the Alabama Juvenile and Family Court Judges Association.
