The body of Mike Spann, the Alabama native C.I.A. officer who was killed in Afghanistan.is now back in the United States. The flag-draped coffin was met by members of Spann's family and C.I.A. officials.
The 32-year-old is the first known American combat death in the military campaign in
Afghanistan. He was killed in a prison riot. The C.I.A.will not comment on why Spann was at the prison. There's no word on when the funeral will be held.
