AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn police are investigating a burglary that left a 19th century piano valued as high as $250,000 damaged.
According to police reports, a Bosendorfer Imperial Concert grand piano was among items damaged in a break-in at Mises Institute Dixon Building sometime between 5:30 p.m. December first and 12:30 p.m. December second.
Mises Institute Director Jeff Tucker said it appeared someone came in to trash the building, with a large mirror falling on top of the piano which dominated the lobby.
Tucker said the piano, which students use for recitals and other special occasions, is known for its perfect pitch.
The group is already looking at ways to have the damage repaired.
