2 Peter 3:13

But in keeping with his promise, we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.

The events of September 11 have had a profound effect on our nation. Americans no longer feel safe, and our fears only continue to grow with the threat of another terrorist attack.

However, we need not be afraid. We should take comfort in knowing that God fulfills his promises to us. We should rejoice in the birth of his son, our Savior, for it is through him we are promised eternal life.

Christ is our everlasting light. John 1:5 says, "The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it." We need not fear the darkness of evil, for the light of Christ shines endlessly. Through Christ, we can joyously look forward to God's grace and peace in the righteousness of heaven.

Prayer: Dear God, in these days of uncertainty, let us seek comfort in the knowledge that you are the light in all darkness. We pray that you fill our hearts with your loving spirit and grant us strength and courage in the days ahead. Amen.
