Spotlight Ministry of the Week - Christian Childcare

Mother’s Morning Out/First School: Children enrolled in Mother’s Morning Out range in age from three months to two and a half years old. First School includes three, four, and five year olds. The hours are 9:30 - 1:15 p.m. and depending on the age of the child, days offered are three to five per week. Director: Jean Carr

Early Childhood Development Center: Our non-profit center is a full service ministry that embraces the schedule of working parents. In a loving and caring environment, our highly qualified providers encourage wholesome “learn through play” curriculum coupled with a bit of “Montessori method”. This nurturing atmosphere is a “home away from home” and is a safe, Christian environment, allowing children and parents to feel comfortable and at ease. Operating hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 5:50 p.m., Monday through Friday. Director: D. Maye, Assistant Director: Honey Williams

Nursery Program: First United Methodist Church is delighted to welcome you and your child into our nursery program. Nursery care is offered during all Worship Services and Sunday School. Classes are divided by age as follows: 0-9 months, 9-18 months, 18-24 months, and Young 2’s. Until you choose for your 3-year old to attend Children’s Church, nursery care is provided for this age group during both services. If you choose to attend the 8:45 service, you may take your child to the Young Two Nursery. The Sunday School teachers will go to the nursery at the beginning of the Sunday School hour to lead the children to their rooms. If you choose to attend the 11:00 service following Sunday School, your child will be taken to the Young Two’s Nursery room.

Both paid and volunteer caregivers staff the church nursery. We provide to all our nursery employees the Child and Infant First Aid and CPR course. In addition, all parents of nursery-age children are asked to help once a quarter on Sunday mornings.

Silent pagers are available to anyone desiring to carry one. Parents of very young children in particular are encouraged to take advantage of this service so that they may be easily found should the need arise. The pagers may be checked out at the 0-9 and 9-18 month nurseries. Nursery care is also provided for the Wednesday evening service and is available through all work area meetings and most other scheduled events.

If you would like a tour of our nursery facilities, or have the need for more information, feel free to call Martie McEnerney, Director of Nursery Ministries. 834-8990
