Puppies Stream into Elmore County Shelter

Unfortunately, with the new year also comes an increase in unwanted pets.  The Elmore County Humane Society has taken in more than a hundred animals in the past week -- most of them puppies.

Volunteers say, while some of the animals would have been surrendered anyway, about half were probably unwanted Christmas presents.

If you are interested in adopting, log on to www.elmorehumane.com for more information. Adoption fees are $85 for dogs and $65 for cats, which includes all required shots.

The society will also have pets for adoption this Saturday from 11:00am to 4:00pm at the Petsmart store in Montgomery.

As always, the society urges pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered to help control the population.
