Salvation Army Kettle Donations Down

There were Salvation Army bell ringers and kettles outside most shopping malls and many stores this Christmas season. But Salvation Army officials say many people who passed the kettles didn't stop to give a donation or gave less than they did in past years.

Salvation Army officials say kettle donations were down about 25%. Captain Frank Kirkpatrick says there were few large bills stuffed in the kettles this year - mostly coins and one dollar bills. The Salvation Army counts on kettle donations for more than half its annual budget.
