WSFA 12 News was first to report breaking news in Elmore county Monday night.

Sheriff Bill Franklin says  someone called 911 to report an explosion in the Redland community. Deputies responded and found a car on fire behind an abandoned house in the 3000 block of Dozier Road.

They also found a dead body inside the vehicle.

Sheriff Franklin says the person was burned so badly that investigators can not tell if it was a man or woman, or his/her race.

Sheriff Franklin said the explosion is suspicious because someone also removed the car's license plate and VIN number.
