Could it be 'Woody Ball'?

Could Auburn see "Woody ball" on the Plains? It's possible, former Vanderbilt head coach Woody Widenhofer says he's "very interested" in the defensive coordinator position at Auburn. Former Auburn defensive coordinator John Lovett and offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone resigned yesterday.

Widenhofer was fired after 5 losing seasons at Vanderbilt, but his Commodore defenses were always pretty strong. Widenhofer was an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the '70's when the "Steel Curtain" won 4 Super Bowls.

Woody says he, "hasn't had players like the ones at Auburn since I was with the Steelers." Whoever lands the job running Auburn's defense will have lots of talent to work with next year as stars like DeMarco McNeil, Karlos Dansby, and Dontarrious Thomas will return along with former Opelika High School star Lemarcus Rowell.

Two names being mentioned for Auburn's offensive coordinator position are Toledo assistant head coach Rob Spence and Miami quarterbacks coach Dan Werner.
