Legislators hit a home run with their actions last week in the special session and can hit a grand slam with similar positive moves in the regular session.
Creating a trust fund for health care costs of retired state employees and educators and increasing the amount of money the state can borrow to attract new businesses are substantive wins that deserve our full support.
Continuing progress in improving education would be another.
Delivering on floating a bond issue for public schools and colleges that would be a record for our state makes perfect sense now.
State revenues are growing. Improving education will help make sure they continue to grow.
Additionally, passing ethics reform legislation that includes a ban on Pac-to-Pac transfers and requires lobbyists to disclose money spent on legislators and public officials would be a win for all of us.
