The beautiful antebellum homes are only part of Eufaula's charm. Anyone who lives there will tell you the heart of this town is on Main Street. Downtown Eufaula is where the past, present and future are thriving as one.
One glance at Main Street and you can't help but see the beauty. There are lots of trees and greenery, but the landscaping is about more than a love for nature. Ann Sparks heads up the Main Street development project. She says, "It's scientific fact. The more trees you have boost sales 25%." Sparks says the street is usually bustling with activity, especially during the weekend of the Eufaula Pilgrimage.
Sparks says right now, "We are 92-94% occupied. That is huge for a city this size." Main Street is incorporated and focuses on keeping this part of town alive and well. She says, "Main Street gave southern charge a grant for this facade."
Southern Charm is just one of the many businesses you'll find along Main Street, working to offer the latest and greatest while preserving the beauty of what used to be. Kristi Moss is the owner. There is a working fountain right in the middle of her store. The store offers pretty much any gift you could need from sports items to china to sheets, purses, and other hot items. Moss says, "It's a darling place."
