American Red Cross Urges Caution Because of Cold Snap

Because of those cold temperatures, the American Red Cross urges families to be cautious when using heating sources and not become a statistic.

They say keep space heaters, kerosene heaters, fire places and hot stoves away from things like bedding, paper or rugs.

Always place heaters on a clean level floor.  And supervise children who are in a room with a heating source.

Fires kill more Americans each year than all natural disasters combined.
