You only get one shot at making a good first impression.

Montgomery will be getting many new visitors when the new Convention Center opens.

We need to plan now to greet them well.

Many will come by plane.

An airport shuttle service established last week between a local limo company and area hotels is a positive move that will help.

But more must be done.

Right now our airport has no welcome center and taxi service can be a challenge.

Newcomers as well as regular visitors with the military and area businesses would benefit by a welcome center and better taxi service.

Enhancing taxi service would require strong oversight by the city to help build a workable business model.

Providing people with a safe, customer friendly experience both when they arrive in town and head to their destination is more than a public relations touch - it is essential to capitalize on the tremendous upside on our horizon.
