Two out of state construction companies are suing Alabama State University in Federal Court. The companies claim ASU asked them to renovate dorms, but now refuses to pay them for the work. Lawyers for Marous Brothers Construction and Gil Barry Associates say ASU hired them to repair six buildings starting in 2005. The companies say after they billed the university for $650-thousand dollars, the school fired them, but kept their plans and is now using them for renovating the buildings. University lawyer Ken Thomas told WSFA12 news - "The lawsuit is completely without merit. They clearly understood from the beginning that all costs and expenses that they incurred in pitching their proposal was at no expense to the university."
