The History of Little Mountain Growers

Little Mountain Growers was started in 1981, partly as hobby and partly as a business venture between Robert & Bettye Funderburk; and their son David.

The location was land in Clay county, Alabama which had been in Bettye's family for 100 years.  The first crops were Virginia pine Christmas trees and azaleas.

In 1987 land was purchased in Elmore county to move the nursery closer to home and our market area.
1988 David started full time in the business.
1989 the first retail garden shop opened at 3396 Atlanta Highway Montgomery, AL.
1993 a second location was opened on Carter Hill Road Montgomery, AL.
1997 closed Carter Hill Road and build a new store at 3072 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL.
1998 Leah Funderburk started as Garden Gifts and interior plant manager.
Present-we continue to operate two retail Garden Centers (Atlanta Hwy & McGehee Rd). We also have a growing operation in Elmore county. Most of all, we have the best nursery staff anywhere, and a host of wonderful consumers.
