Editorial: Soldier's Creed

Tears flow around our region this week as a local soldier, Matthew Bolar, is buried at Arlington National Cemetary.

It is happening more frequently in many towns and cities across our country.

For all of our soldiers - and their families - know that we appreciate your many sacrifices, and in the case of more and more of you, the ultimate sacrifice.

The Soldier's Creed rings true in all of our hearts and minds:

"I am an American Soldier.  I am a Warrior and member of a team.

I serve the people of the United States and live the Army Values.

I will always place the mission first.

I will never accept defeat.

I will never leave a fallen comrade.

I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills.

I always maintain my arms, my equipment, and myself.

I am an expert and I am professional.

I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat.

I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.

I am an American soldier."

Many patriotic Americans are more than troubled with what is transpiring in Iraq but we all support you,  the soldiers,  and your  families,  and hope soon your mission will be accomplished.
