Ozark City Council Approves Sales Tax Increase

Shoppers in Ozark will soon have to dig a little deeper into their pocketbooks. Tuesday night the Ozark City Council increased the sales tax from eight to nine cents. The city and the Ozark school system will benefit from the increase which goes into affect August first. The city receives all of the increased revenue until January 2008, after that the city school system will get half. The city says they had no choice but raise the tax, so they can make ends meet and not tap their reserve accounts.
