Editorial: Vacations in Alabama

Gasoline prices have everyone concerned about travel this summer, and yet, we all need a vacation.

When you're planning your time off with your family around Independence Day, consider an Alabama destination.

Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Mobile Bay

Or how about Joe Wheeler, Desoto, or Cheaha State Parks.

Or perhaps Ross Bridge, Grand National, or  Cambrian Ridge... just a few of the Robert Trent  Jones Golf Trail locations.

Alabama has 4 national forests, the space museum, some of the best hunting and fishing in the  world... the list is long.

Better still, if you're close to Montgomery, plan to visit Old Alabama Town, The Rosa Parks Museum, The First White House of the Confederacy,  The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts,  or the Department of Archives and History,  just to name a few.

Don't take these treasures in your own back yard for granted.  If you vacation close to home... you save on gasoline.

By the way, you'll find complete information about these locations as well as where to find the cheapest gasoline... on the community page of WSFA.com.
