COPY-The Search For A New Russell County Superintendent Is Postponed

You may remember, the search for the new superintendent of the Russell County School Board began after Vivian Carter passed away in May.

The search was narrowed down to three candidates, but now the process is being postponed and the search for a new superintendent has to start all over.

It seems like a growing trend within the Russell County School Board. In the past it's had problems and difficulty finding and retaining a superintendent and now it's like dejavu---the same thing all over again.

Before Carter, Doctor Rebecca Lee was Superintendent of the Russell County School System for a short time.

And before her was Doctor Phillip Elder who's tenure wasn't very long either.

In a phone conversation, board member Dillie Elliott, told News Leader Nine quote.....

"We had some questions and concerns about the applicants. We just want to reopen the search and make sure everyone has all the qualifications dictated by Board policy."

The chairman of the school board says the process is moving too fast.

"All of the interviews are postponed and on hold right now until the board reconvenes and that's basically it," added Barns.
