Montgomery Child Killed, Capital City's 28th Homicide

A shooting on the Montgomery's south side claims the life of a young boy, just shy of his fourth birthday.

Police received a call at 7:40PM and responded to the corner of Honeybee and Briarhurst streets.

That's where authorities say the young boy was shot in the torso.

Initial reports suggest the boy was injured by a stray bullet, possibly from some cars exchanging fire in the area.

The unnamed youth was transported to Baptist Medical Center South, where doctors tried to save his life.

He was pronounced dead at 8:31 PM.  The death of the unnamed boy marks Montgomery's 28th homicide of 2007.

Witnesses spotted a tan Chevy Caprice, a lime Caprice, and a white Acura-style car in the area at the time of the shooting.

Police are asking the public for any information that may help them find the killer.  They are asking the public to call the Montgomery Police Department at (334) 241-2651.
